| The Ice-Z server comes equipped with a full desktop for ease of use. | |
| Packages such as HTML editing software are included | |
| The desktop GUI uses additional computer resources; therefore it is not | |
| recommended for sites with heavy traffic. An operation system without | |
| a GUI should be used like the Ubuntu Server with only a terminal window | |
| This is a full LAMP (Linux Apache My-Sql php) installation. | |
|
This server is designed to introduce beginners to the world of open | |
| source software. You can use it for a printer or files on your home | |
| server or obtain a free IP address and run your own website on the | |
| world wide web. This website is hosted on one of my old computers. | |

Installation Tips | |
| The 'Network Manager' application should be removed if using a static IP | |
| address. A minimum 10Gb drive is recommended *Important* disconnect your | |
| hard drive for flash drive installation. You are most likely reading this from a | |
| flash drive installed on my server. Low energy fans and power supplies are | |
| recommended. Heavy traffic sites should use a SATA hard drive and additional | |
| cooling hardware. | |
| Home server check list. | |
